An ions is an electrically charged atom or group of atoms. 

Examples:- Na+,Mg2+,Al3+, cl-,0²-, N³-  etc. 

𝗜𝗢𝗡𝗦 𝗔𝗥𝗘 𝗢𝗙 𝗧𝗪𝗢 𝗧𝗬𝗣𝗘𝗦:-

• Cations
• Anons

𝗖𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡𝗦 - A cation is formed by the loss of one or more electrons. 

Example :- Na+, Mg2+, Al 3+ etc. 

• 𝗡𝗮 - 𝟭𝗲  —› Na+
• 𝗠𝗴 - 𝟮𝗲 —› Mg2+
• 𝗔𝗹 - 𝟯𝗲 —›Al3+

𝗔𝗡𝗜𝗢𝗡𝗦 - An anion is formed by the gain of one more electrons. 

Example:- Cl-, 0²-, N³- etc. 

• 𝗖𝗹 + 𝟭𝗲 —› Cl-
• 𝗢 + 𝟮𝗲 —› O²-
• 𝗡 + 𝟯𝗲 —› N³-

                   𝗖𝗟𝗔𝗦𝗦𝗜𝗙𝗜𝗘𝗗 𝗔𝗦

• 𝗠𝗲𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗖𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 (𝟭,𝟮 & 𝟯) -› Transfer of electrons.
• 𝗖𝗼𝘃𝗮𝗹𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗕𝗼𝗻𝗱 (𝟰) -› Sharing of electrons.
• 𝗡𝗼𝗻-𝗺𝗲𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗔𝗻𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀(𝟱,𝟲 & 𝟳) -› Accept of electrons. 
• (𝟴) -› Noble gas
